Ten Tips for Writing and Presenting Great Wedding Speeches

1.       Choose stories that support your message – relevant stories and vivid word pictures capture the heart.

2.        Avoid alcohol if you can.  After the speech you can celebrate your success, rather than possibly regretting slurred words and embarrassment.

3.        Practice.  It will make the speech as good as it can be, and settle your nerves.

4.       Consider your audience.

5.       People appreciate sincerity

6.       Keep it short.

7.       If your speech has a list of “thankyous” try to break it ups with reminiscences, humour or a quote.

8.       Make sure your jokes are in good taste and contribute positively.

9.       Make eye contact, if you can, with audience members.

10.   Relax and enjoy!
